Since January 2004 Khun Peerapong has been the Executive Director of the TCEB, The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, established last year to promote the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions, briefing known as MICE industry, specifically by building a quality MICE product and a powerful B2B brand image for Thailand as a major international player in this sector. Leading regional competitors are Singapore and Hong Kong with highly developed and sophisticated products that using cutting-edge commercial, infrastructure and IT systems to attract regional and international business visitors.
Khun Peerapong has 23 years senior management experience with blue-chip international businesses. From 1997-2002 as the Managing Director of Microsoft in Thailand he led the subsidiary to be nominated as one of the top three in the Asia region in 2002 at the Microsoft Global Briefing. Among his key achievements were building a powerful network of Channel, Resellers, Partners and Certified Professional Education Centres. This enhanced 'marketing engine' strengthened Microsoft's brand image and established a more effective sales machine. His re-organization of the company coupled with building a strong team through recruitment and replacement enabled policy implementations that significantly grew revenues and market share during his leadership. Under his leadership, Microsoft achieved a 51% accumulated revenue growth from fiscal year 1998 - 2002.
Prior to joining Microsoft Khun Peerapong was for over three years the Managing Director of Compaq Computers. During his first year he built Compaq Thailand from scratch to become market leader in both revenue and unit volume, and to remain as the revenue leader for the rest of his tenure. From the company's first day, he undertook the appointment of all key positions and successfully created a high profile for the new brand in both Corporate and Consumer markets.
From 1980 to 1993 he held senior management positions in marketing and sales with two other quality IT companies. His 6 years with Digital Equipment as Country Digital Consulting Manager and member of the Thailand Management Committee allowed him to take up a broader role: planning, budgeting, managing Departmental P&L and sales. It was here that he began developing his negotiation and deal-making skills working on major projects with the Stock Exchange of Thailand. His career in Thailand began with a computer reseller where he undertook his first managerial role in leading the sales and marketing function.
His long experience in demanding multi-cultural, multinational environments has equipped him with a broad skill-set suitable for handling complex roles dealing with multiple professional constituencies. He possesses strong analytical and organizational skills at the strategic level, he is a brand builder, but also has a proven track record of leading by example sleeves and delivering business results.
Khun Peerapong completed his education in America, receiving a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Western Michigan University where he also gained his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. To support himself while studying, he also undertook various teaching positions during his time there. |
